Impact Conversion
Tourism·Conversion-led site build, 2026

A visitor centre website built around the only two things visitors do.

The Wānaka isite is the official visitor information centre for Wānaka. When it separated from Lake Wānaka Tourism it needed its own site, fast. Rather than a brochure, we built a single page around the two actions that matter: enquire, and get directions. Everything else on the page exists to make those two easier.

The brief

Visitor centre websites tend to become small brochures: a history, a list of services, a gallery, a PDF map. The person who lands on them has a simpler question. Where are you, when are you open, and can you help me plan and book my trip?

The isite was decoupling from the regional tourism site and had no web presence of its own. It needed one that answered those questions immediately and captured the enquiries that used to arrive through the parent site.

The approach

We built one page. The hero states what the centre does in one line, and the strip beneath it carries opening hours, the street address, phone and email before anyone scrolls. Two calls to action, enquire and get directions, repeat through the page. Nothing competes with them.

The contact form posts straight to the team’s inbox and fires a tracked conversion event, so every enquiry is measured from the first day. Local business schema, geo metadata and a submitted sitemap give Google what it needs to show the centre for the searches visitors actually make.

The design is the isite brand done properly: the national lozenge, the Pākati motif, local photography, and the accreditation badges that tell an international visitor this is the official source.

The result

The site went live in July 2026 with analytics, search console and enquiry tracking in place, so the centre can see what visitors ask for and where they come from.

In its first two months, 10 percent of visits converted: an enquiry sent, directions requested, or a click through to book. Two thirds of that traffic arrived from organic search and referrals, on a site that did not exist in June. It is the same discipline we bring to a testing program: decide what the page is for, remove everything that gets in the way, and measure the outcome.

What actually moved

  • 10% of visits convert to an enquiry, a directions request or a booking click in the first two months.
  • One page built around two actions: enquire and get directions.
  • Hours, address, phone and email above the fold, no PDF map.
  • Every enquiry tracked as a conversion event from launch.
  • Local business schema and search setup for the searches visitors make.
